<p>Some time ago a mentor of mine (actually it was Mr.Byron Nelson who I later featured in The Multi-Million Dollar Mindset put a book in my hand called The Power of Focus.</p>
<p>That book was life-changing for me in that it made very plain and clear the same principle that Eisenhower is quoted above as haven spoken at some point in his life. In network marketing companies, they typically teach you to write down and become one with &#8220;Your Why&#8221; whenever you first get started.</p>
<p>The truth is that &#8220;The Why&#8221; is something that you need no matter what business model you are in. You must have one compelling dream or goal to focus on that you will create into a reality as a result of your wealth-building journey.</p>
<p>You will find that when you are able to devote a laser-like focus to hone particular thing, the universe has a way of literally &#8220;bending&#8221; to that one thing in order to help you make happen.</p>
<p>Although in reality, the Universe doesn&#8217;t bend at all. Bending to suit your wishes just isn&#8217;t its job. What creates REALLY the magic and power out of focus is your own tenacity and willingness to be more agile and flexible when your path is challenged with obstacles and/or set backs.</p>
<p>If you want to become a huge success in business, find something that is incredibly compelling to you and focus on it. Your enthusiasm and resolve will put you in the proper frame of mind so that whatever happens along the way will be nothing more than a brief detour or even stepping stone that you will overcome in order to make it to your destination.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>How heavily invested are you in your life and home business and what is your level of commitment?</h3>
<p>This might sound like a pretty obvious and silly question BUT unless you are heavily invested emotionally, physically and financially you will struggle to succeed. Why?</p>
<p>Well, until you invest all your emotions, feelings and efforts into any project you are not fully engaged in making it a success. Just consider your relationships, hobbies and friendships. If your energy and emotions are not fully engaged then the results will not be as successful, fulfilling or rewarding as they could be.</p>
<p>Most people just cruise along in a comfort zone. They might wish they had more or better but that wish alone is not enough to spur them into action to change. As humans we get comfortable where we are at and moving out of this zone is something that can make most feel &#8216;uncomfortable&#8217;. We naturally pull back from moving out of our comfort zones and generally prefer the life and routine where things happen with a certain routine and predictability. When we do push ourselves our subconcious is screaming STOP stay here it&#8217;s ok it&#8217;s safe!</p>
<p>As we continue to push through the tension increases as does the level of discomfort, so do you throw in the towel or do you dig in your heels and become even more determined to move forwards? Entrepreneurs have the mindset that there is far more to be lost in not pushing these boundaries and in doing so they open themselves up to periods of huge growth. Entrepreneurs are willing to challenge themselves and to push their boundaries to the limits and beyond so that each time they do this they are redefined. They do not settle for being just &#8216;comfortable&#8217; they know they are capable of more and accept and welcome the feelings of discomfort as a necessary part of growth. That&#8217;s not to say that this is an easy process because once you have stretched yourself way out of your comfort zone there can be an overwhelming desire to slide back to where you were. This is why this process is the one that separates the successful from the unsuccessful and by committing to change and following this commitment with massive action no matter what we will succeed. The level of financial commitment in a home based business will also determine your level of financial success providing of course that you have the other essential elements of good education, training, mentor and proven business model in place. Remember, there are none of the usual expenses such as rent, insurance, staff and inventory in a home based business so running costs are low once the initial start up has been paid. Profitability can be as high as 80% so it makes good business sense to be positioned as high as possible so that you can take full advantage of the compensation plan. This is the point where the feelings of financial discomfort begin to show. If positioning yourself at the top is a financial stretch just remember, the higher your level of &#8216;discomfort&#8217; the higher your propensity for growth (both financial and personal). There is nothing quite like the prospect of financial failure or impending poverty to kick you up the ass and make you all the more determined to succeed. By pushing forwards through the pain and discomfort we reach a &#8216;snap&#8217; point just like an elastic band reaching full stretch. This point is the make or break point that will sort out the &#8216;winner&#8217; from the &#8216;losers&#8217;. Some will allow the recoil to bring them back to where they were and some will stretch it just that tiny bit further until it snaps. The &#8216;snap&#8217; point is that moment when we realise all the pain, hardship and effort was worth it and we know that we can and will do it again. It is where we come out at the other side with totally redefined boundaries. We are a different stronger and more aware person than we were when we were cruising along in comfort zone. This characteristic is what makes entrepreneurs different, they constantly stretch and redefine their boundaries to new levels. Each time this happens their boundaries are redefined to new levels as they constantly make the seemingly impossible possible. Then they begin all over again because their new view and level begins bit by bit to stretch all over again.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>It is possible to wake up feeling GREAT almost every day. Self awareness and self love are the keys. We have to be aware of what we need to feel great and we have to love ourselves enough to give it to ourselves.</h3>
<p>All of us have needs beyond the basics of food, water, and shelter. We have needs for family, intimacy, supportive friends, rest, recreation, excellent health, prosperity, a peaceful home, and work that we love. . . to name just a few!</p>
<p>As children, may of us were given the message that our needs weren&#8217;t important. We were taught to give up our needs for others. We&#8217;ve been conditioned and trained from an early age to override our needs. Now it is sometimes difficult to really know what we need and how we feel in any given moment.</p>
<p>No matter what happened in the past, we can learn to listen to our own needs now. We can learn to love ourselves so much that we give ourselves everything we need to feel ecstatic about being alive.</p>
<p>It is even possible to feel enthusiastic about going to work every day! If you don&#8217;t look forward to being at work, ask yourself this question: Do I deserve to have a job that I love? You might have an immediate reaction with all the reasons why you can&#8217;t have a job you love.</p>
<p>You might need a coach to help you get over the resistance and develop an action plan to lead you step by step towards creating meaningful and inspiring work. A coach is a professional who is trained to assist you to be the very best you can be and create the most satisfying life possible.</p>
<p>A good coach will encourage you to take time off each week for rejuvenating. Without regular time off to refuel, you can get drained, and possibly ill. It is difficult to feel passionate about life when you are sick or under stress.</p>
<p>Some of us live with ongoing stress. We get so used to it that we even perpetuate it through ignorance and an addiction to being stressed. We overbook ourselves, create our own pressure deadlines, and have poor boundaries around saying &#8220;NO&#8221; to people and activities that are draining.</p>
<p>It is important to take care of our physical bodies. If we eat well and get a good night&#8217;s sleep, we can wake up each day feeling fantastic! If we don&#8217;t, there is something wrong. Notice if you have simply accepted a baseline of depression or fatigue.</p>
<p>One of the major causes of feeling depleted is eating foods that are energy draining. There is a way to become aware of what foods drain your vitality. Keep a log of the foods you eat for meals and snacks each day with notes on how you feel after eating them.</p>
<p>Sometimes the foods you eat will affect your energy level the next day. After you eat chocolate cheesecake for dessert, notice how you feel when you wake up the next morning! It is not worth 10 minutes of pleasurable eating to feel badly for 48 hours. We are going for feeling good every day and recognizing what brings us down.</p>
<p>Experiment! Try going to bed earlier. . . try watching only the TV programs that enrich your life and help you feel better. Your feelings will guide you if you tune in to what they are telling you.</p>
<p>Everyone needs time weekly to rest and have fun. working more than forty or fifty hours a week is abusive to ourselves. Sometimes we need to work hard for a period of time, but look at the scope of your life and your work patterns.</p>
<p>Sometimes overworking is about avoiding your feelings or avoiding people. Perhaps there is an underlying negative belief that says you can&#8217;t rest until the work is all done, or that you don&#8217;t deserve to have fun. Or maybe you are simply settling for stress and pain because it is familiar.</p>
<p>You can wake up every day feeling excited about the day. It takes the desire to feel good, and the discipline to discover where you are losing energy. Ask yourself, &#8220;Am I willing to do what it takes to feel great every day?&#8221; Then notice any ways you sabotage your good intentions.</p>
<p>In order to feel happy about being alive, we need to build our reserves of energy, health, time, and wealth. If you become more aware of the things that drain your power and resources, and commit to making the necessary changes, you will launch yourself into a whole new vibrant life!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Alot of people were tuned into the Law of Attraction with the movie &#8220;The Secret&#8221; came out and brought their attention to this. The Law of Attraction has been around forever, along with other Universal Laws of Nature.</h3>
<p>The Law of Attraction pretty much states that what you think, focus and draw your attention to you bring about in your life. Negative and positive, as it does not know the difference in your state of mind.</p>
<p>The Law of Attraction focuses on the energy that you put out to the Universe, in every area of your life. It does not care what color your skin is, what your financial situation is, nor does it care what care you drive. All it does is bring about what you focus on.</p>
<p>I receive alot of emails from people saying &#8220;I focus on this or that Nicole, but nothing is happening. What am I doing wrong?&#8221; Well, to be honest, they are already thinking they are doing something wrong. They already have this in the back of their mind that something is not going their way, so what happens? The Universe says &#8220;Ok&#8221; and gives them exactly that!</p>
<p>It is a matter of re-directing your attention and focus in a positive manner. I also get emails asking &#8220;How can I focus on having alot of money or love when I know I don&#8217;t right now in my life?&#8221; This is another big mistake. First of all, they are already stating they don&#8217;t have it, so what is the Universe going to give them, more of not having that love or money!</p>
<p>If we shift our energy, focus and attention to the present moment; the NOW we can see that we already have everything we need right in front of us. We may not like the love we have in our life, but we do have some kind of love. We may not like our financial situation, but we still have one. And I can guarantee there are other people out there that have worse still yet.</p>
<p>So how can I go about changing this? Stay in the moment! Stay in the NOW! And focus on what you do have and be grateful for it, give thanks for it and really appreciate it! When we start to appreciate the small things we do have in or lives we will notice how much more blessed things really are. This can create a major shift in energy for alot of people.</p>
<p>Keeping a journal is always a good idea as well. Think of 10 or 15 things in a day that you are grateful for. Find new ones each and every day and try this for a week. See how you feel after the 7 days have passed. Things will seem alot more positive and being able to tackle them in our day to day life.</p>
<p>Working with visualization is another wonderful way to create and manifest things in our life. Just remember when you do work with visualizing, focus on your desires in the present moment as if you already had them.</p>
<p>One more thing that can help is joining a support group and gathering together to focus on your topics. More people gather means more energy. Two is better then one, and ten is better then two! So get together and have visualization sessions or have a partner work together with you. The more people manifesting on one topic the quicker it can be brought about into the physical plane.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Everywhere I go people ask me questions about whether or not it is right for them to ask for more.</p>
<p>&#8220;David, is to okay for me to want to be more, do more and have more?&#8221;</p>
<p>They also think on some level if things don&#8217;t work out and what is wanted is not achieved, then there must be some force in the Universe working against them, or the timing is not right for what they want.</p>
<p>I would like to add a bit of perspective from my own experience and the ideas of Raymond Holliwell, author of The Laws of Success.</p>
<p>One of the most difficult concepts for people to grasp is the power that lies within themselves to create.</p>
<p>I recently returned from my ERS seminar in Vegas where I taught people how to literally manifest money. Each person started with nothing, and by following very specific laws they learned how to create money right in their very hands.</p>
<p>People typically have a difficult time understanding how serious I am about their ability to manifest money, but the outcome is phenomenal. Most attendees become very emotional about what they have learned to do, and they realize their lives have just changed forever.</p>
<p>Holliwell put it this way:</p>
<p>&#8220;The principle explains that no desire is felt until the supply is ready to appear. No mind can be conscious of a need or a desire unless the possibility of its fulfillment exists.&#8221;</p>
<p>Do you know how powerful that makes you?</p>
<p>You cannot ask too much of the Law, for it is unlimited and the supply is inexhaustible.</p>
<p>You can get only what you can conceive &#8211; what you can understand. You can only get the equivalent to what you give.</p>
<p>It is critical you study and learn from the right people. All of your success will come in the form of an opportunity, and you must give something in exchange for each opportunity. If you step back in fear you lose. That is the law.</p>
<p>Remember&#8230; you have attracted everything and everyone into your life for a purpose, which is to move you into being what you want to be.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Do you notice what&#8217;s getting your attention, visually, mentally and emotionally? Or do you tend to let the intuitions, thoughts and feelings just pass by?</h3>
<p>Ways your intuition will use experiences and opportunities to get your attention and send you messages all the time, if you just pay attention to what you notice.</p>
<h3>CAUGHT MY EYE</h3>
<p>My dog woke me up in the middle of the night to go outside unusually and I took him out. On the way back upstairs, I noticed my boyfriend&#8217;s phone which was charging. It caught my attention. I decided to pick it up and bring it upstairs. Sure enough&#8230;the phone rang at 6:00 am, unusually, for an urgent work matter.<br />
He asked me why I brought him the phone. I said, &#8220;I don&#8217;t know. I just noticed it and so brought it.&#8221; That&#8217;s how it works. Notice, then act, and later you may find out why.</p>
<h3>SUBCONSCIOUS ACTIONS</h3>
<p>A couple days ago, I was driving my son to get something at a store and I pulled into a gas station. Don&#8217;t know why, I just did. I thought, &#8220;Hmmm. Do I need gas? I have a quarter tank, plenty to get to DC and back tonight.&#8221; I didn&#8217;t feel like stopping and went on to the store.<br />
At 2:30 am that night, as I sat on the side of the road out of gas (briefly, fortunately, because I always seem to get kind help whenever I need it), I remembered the signal I got and ignored earlier in the day. Oops. Turns out my gas tank meter needs fixing, and my intuition knew! It didn&#8217;t seem logical at the time, but it did made sense.</p>
<h3>CHARGED EMOTIONAL REACTION</h3>
<p>At the retreat I was teaching I noticed I got very excited talking about a company I used to work for. I&#8217;m going to connect with them again and explore what might be there for me.</p>
<h3>Tips for your intuition to signal you through what you notice</h3>
<p>Your subconscious mind is picking up millions of signals in every moment&#8230;the feeling of the chair against your back, the temperature of the room, all the things at your desk, every magazine you walk by in the grocery store, etc., but consciously you only tune into some things. Just ask your intuition to notice what you need, keep you safe, bring you resources, answer questions you have, find you a new job, whatever&#8230;.Then just pay attention to what you notice, especially if it gets your attention multiple times. Give your first thoughts extra consideration before you reason them away. The rational explanation may show up later.</p>
<p>Call that person you&#8217;ve been thinking of so much lately. Who knows?<br />
Pick up that book you&#8217;ve heard about 3 times this week and sounded intriguing.<br />
Think of a question with your eyes closed then open your eyes and see what you notice first. Can it give you a signal to the answer? (It can. Just let it come.)<br />
Notice a strong emotional response to something (positive or negative), and know it is a signal to experience, avoid or learn. If there&#8217;s a pattern, then definitely pay attention.<br />
Notice smells, taste, visuals, sounds, temperature, everything around you&#8230;just for practice being observant and sensory&#8230;and for fun. Six sensory people use ALL of their senses.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Having a positive mindset towards your goals is a prerequisite for any meaningful achievement you will make in life.</h3>
<p>Your mindset is at the top of the deciding factors of your success in life. Having faith in your ability to achieve your specific goals and actually believing that it will happen means that all your body systems are poised for such achievements. And this will make it possible for you to take the required actions towards achieving such goals.</p>
<p>These actions could be in a form of step by step hurdles which are achievable one after the other, in order to simplify the process of actualizing your goals.</p>
<p>A negative mindset, on the other hand, will discourage your body systems from taking any constructive steps towards the specific goals you have in mind and this if not properly controlled will lead to set backs.</p>
<p>A positive mindset is an aspect of Positive Self Talk. It is a powerful force which enables you to see life as worth-living and makes all things possible and achievable. If you believe you will succeed on a specific goal it will make it attractive and worth while for you to take the necessary steps towards achieving the goals.</p>
<p>A weak mindset needs to be put in the proper shape because it is most likely to lower your progress in life.</p>
<p>One of the best ways to reconstruct how your mind works is to establish a belief or even a faith. A strong belief or faith is a powerful tool, which when properly harnessed with the right actions will propel you to big and outstanding successes.</p>
<p>If you believe you will succeed on a specific goal and you see yourself taking practical daily steps and actions towards the set goals, it is only a matter of time for the goal to manifest.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It is truly miraculous how the human brain works. When a person looks back and reflects on life and past experiences, there are always certain memories that stand out more than the rest. I have had a lot of good times and am lucky that my good times have been more frequent than the troubled times.</p>
<p>Yet, even in the good times, my brain&#8217;s memory function seems to be selective on the foremost memories. I have been fortunate enough to have traveled the world and been to some very exciting places. In 2001, my wife and I went to Ireland and we had an absolutely wonderful time. If pressed, I could tell you a bunch of stories about that trip, places we visited, people we met, and the Guinness we drank.</p>
<p>However, when I think about our wonderful trip to Ireland only certain selective memories come into my mind.</p>
<p>Same goes for a family trip we took to Cancun in 2005 and got stuck in Hurricane Wilma. We were scheduled to fly out of Mexico on a Friday, but had to go into a shelter on Thursday night and ended up staying in a shelter for three days. Three days is a considerable amount of time to spend staring at the walls with hundreds of other people sweating and not enough bathroom space to go around. Yet, even with the shelter drama, only certain memories come to the front of my mind unless pressed further.</p>
<p>Well, here is a memory that stands out in my mind from my early 20&#8242;s. A couple friends and I were sitting around having a couple beers and throwing around different ideas. I can&#8217;t remember how the topic came up, but the theme went on for hours. We were talking about how awesome it would be if we put on a TV. show and did stupid stunts. We talked about jumping off moving trains, walking through pits of vipers, skateboarding down crazy steep streets, etc…</p>
<p>Years after my buddies and I had our &#8216;idea session&#8217; a show came out on cable that had people doing nothing other than stupid stunts. The show was wildly popular and even resulted in spin-offs and a few motion pictures that did very well at the box office and in DVD rentals and sales.</p>
<p>What did my buddies and I lack that those who came later didn&#8217;t?</p>
<p>ACTION!</p>
<p>Ideas are truly meaningless and not worth a penny. Allow me to rephrase that, ideas are only worth their &#8216;weight&#8217; if they are followed by Action.</p>
<p>The world is full of people with fantastic ideas. Imagine the guy who looked up at the night sky and thought; &#8220;wouldn&#8217;t it be a great idea for us to visit the moon&#8221; or the guy who looked at a loaf of bread and thought &#8220;just think if I didn&#8217;t have to cut the bread to make a sandwich.&#8221;</p>
<p>Ridiculous???</p>
<p>While these ideas might be extreme, or even common place makes no difference. The facts are these are ideas that without action are just ideas.</p>
<p>You can have dreams of what you want to accomplish or maybe you have some great ideas that would change the world. However, without ACTION you got nothing.</p>
<p>Mindset is important and I don&#8217;t want to discount that for a minute. But, a great &#8216;I can&#8217; attitude without ACTION is nothing.</p>
<p>You can attract people to you till your lips turn blue, but without Action….you don&#8217;t have a barrel to stand on.</p>
<p>So, here you have it&#8230; the greatest secrets to success…………TAKE ACTION!!!!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Your mental train ticket to self-empowerment</strong></p>
<p>We all find ourselves at certain points in our lives holding first class tickets to negative mental trains of thought. Michele Wahlder (MS, LPC, PCC), a two-time cancer survivor and Dallas, Texas-based Certified Life Coach and Psychotherapist, has placed thousands of people on the right track to self-empowerment via a plan she calls the 5 C Process. The journey challenges individuals to:</p>
<p><strong>One</strong></p>
<p>Clarify Current View – Where are you now- honestly?</p>
<p>Conscious awareness of your current view is the first step in becoming the best you can be. Getting clear about how your life aligns with your values, talents and unique gifts is vital to your happiness. You need to know where you are in order to learn where you want to go.</p>
<p>You can clarify your current view by completing a review of eight life areas. Be honest with yourself about how happy are you with your profession, finances, health and overall well-being, primary relationships, personal development, spirituality, environment, hobbies, etc.</p>
<p><strong>Two</strong></p>
<p>Connect with Your Highest Vision – Where do you want to be?</p>
<p>Example: A client of mine, a yoga instructor, decided she was happy teaching but wanted to contribute to the world on a larger level. She wasn’t happy with the quality of the yoga clothing that was accessible to her and her fellow yogis. Her vision was to design and create fun, hip and timeless yoga clothes using eco-conscious fabrics.</p>
<p>You have to get really clear about what you want. It is crucial that you connect to your highest vision of yourself because you can’t create it unless you are clear about what it looks like. If you don’t have a vision of where you want to go or what you want to be, you will most likely NOT get there. To quote Henrietta Klauser, “If you have a connection to what you want, take the next step and write it down.” If you don’t have any idea about what you want, or how you want to be in life to bring about greater happiness, begin looking through magazines and create a Vision Board/Collage of what attracts you. You may also want to consider getting an outside perspective from a friend or a professional coach. I take my clients through a guided imagery that gives them a glimpse of what their future could look like. There are also books that can help guide you. Just get help assessing your talents, divine gifts and abilities and then determine how you want to use them more fully in the world. We can’t help others as fully, if we are not aware of how we can best serve. So instead of thinking of it as selfish to engage in knowing yourself better, I would suggest you consider it selfish to hold back and not be the best you can be. Only in this way, can we help the world and others.</p>
<p><strong>Three</strong></p>
<p>Create Inspiring Goals – How will you get there?</p>
<p>Example: My client created a tiered plan of what needed to happen step by step – outer goal. All of this was influenced by her inner goal of keeping a measured pace and a balanced life. Her goal was to enjoy the process.</p>
<p>You have to create a plan and take specific actions to get you from where you are now to where you want to be. When most people write goals, they just write a list of action steps, usually external actions. I believe it is more powerful to have inner and outer goals. An outer goal is what you want. For instance, you might think, “I want a new house”. An inner goal is more focused on the how. How will a new home benefit me and my family? Will it offer more common gathering areas, a larger kitchen so that we can cook together, etc.? How can I appreciate what I have now until I get this home? How can I make this a joyful experience rather than a stressful one? If you can not be grateful for what you have now, then when you get a new home, it will only create very short-term happiness for you. Then, you will be focused on the next external illusion of happiness. For 2008, I suggest taking at least three of the life areas I mentioned earlier and jot down how you couldbenefit from living your highest vision in each area. Next, add action steps toward your desired achievements along with completion dates.</p>
<p><strong>Four</strong></p>
<p>Clear Obstacles – How will you remove obstacles in your way?</p>
<p>We all have dreams and visions for our life, but frankly, there are many things that can get in the way. The two most common obstacles I see with my clients are:</p>
<p>The inability to say NO— In order to bridge the gap from your current view to your highest vision, you have to make room for what “Could Be”. If your life is full and you want to add more of the things that are truly important in your life, you should start the change process by making room first. You must say no to some things in your life, so you can say yes to what is most important. You have to give up the destructive habits, behaviors and activities to make room for new ones.</p>
<p>A metaphor would be a water hose watering a flowering plant. The water in the hose is your life force and the flowering plant is what you are trying to grow in your life. If the water hose has leaks, it will not have enough water or life force/energy to reach its desired outcome or vision (to grow the plant into full bloom). Examples of leaks might include toxic friendships, unrealistic expectations, watching too much television, eating sugar, overspending, negative relational patterns with your spouse or working on an outdated job.</p>
<p>Example: A client’s obstacle here was that her 8- year-old daughter needed caring for and she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to be a good mother plus jumpstart a successful, new business. We remedied this issue by getting clear on the proper definition of a good mother. Also, practically speaking, she needed help picking up her daughter from school. So she got her husband to assist her in this area so she would have time to create this new business.</p>
<p>Negative self-talk—Research shows we have approximately 50,000 internal messages we say to ourselves daily. We are constantly walking around having conversations with ourselves. And it is what we say that makes all the difference in the overall quality of our lives.</p>
<p>Example: I was once in Starbucks, and I watched this woman spill her coffee while reaching for a sugar packet and I heard her say out loud, “I’m so stupid. I can’t believe I did that.”</p>
<p>Now, I just happen to hear her, but this is an example of something you might say internally as well. You might think, “No big deal. I say things like this to myself all the time.” Well, IT IS A BIG DEAL as our subconscious hears these messages and acts on them as if they were real. Don’t say anything to yourself that you wouldn’t want someone else saying to you.</p>
<p>Think of self-talk like mental fuel. Now, imagine filling your car with dirty water. We all know you wouldn’t get very far. Now, take that same car and fill it with high quality gasoline. You’ll most likely reach your destination. It is the same with people and the words we use. If the words are negative and toxic, we will sputter along with low energy and our performance suffers. If our words are positive and tender, we will feel confident, energized, encouraged and will most likely meet our goals faster and easier. Here are some key things to remember if you ever find yourself preparing to board the train of BAD self-talk:</p>
<p>B– stands for belittling self-talk. Stop telling yourself, “I am not good enough.” If your dream is to have a healthy self-confidence, which of the following examples is more likely to get your there:</p>
<p>A. “I’m so stupid. I can’t believe I did that.”</p>
<p>B. “Whoops, mistakes happen.”</p>
<p>Can you see how the Answer B is much kinder?</p>
<p>A – stands for awfulizing. Stop predicting a future filled with gloom and doom, and dwelling on scary thoughts. If you dream of obtaining a career you love, which of the following will move you closer to your vision:</p>
<p>A. “I did terribly on my interview, I’ll never find a job I like.”</p>
<p>B. “I will answer that question on past employment differently next time and I will ace it! I know I will one day have the job I love.”</p>
<p>Can you see how Answer B places you in the mindset of a successful job search?</p>
<p>D – stands for deceiving. This is when you deceive yourself into thinking you are a victim, and that other people are to blame for your circumstances. If we want a happy relationship which will of the below responses will aid in achieving this goal:</p>
<p>A. “If my spouse would only do more around the house, then I would be happy.”</p>
<p>B. “I can and will choose happiness today, no matter what my spouse does.”</p>
<p>Answer B is the right choice, wouldn’t you agree?</p>
<p>S – stands for shoulding – This is when you give yourself a lot of shoulds, musts, and ought tos, then beat yourself up for not living up to unrealistic standards. Say your dream is to be in top physical condition, which will further that:</p>
<p>A. “I should have eaten a salad for lunch instead of that big ol’ hamburger. I’m such a pig!”</p>
<p>B. “I could have eaten a salad, but I chose not to. Tomorrow I will make healthier choices.”</p>
<p>The second choice is so much more inspiring, don’t you think?</p>
<p><strong>Five</strong></p>
<p>Commit to Action – Are you willing to do what it takes?</p>
<p>The final step of the 5 C Process is to commit to action. How many times have we all made plans and never carried them out, or started off excited and lost motivation? No one ever does anything great alone. We all need encouragement and support from others including an accountability partner who is willing to help hold the vision of the person you want to be. In the previous example of my client, her biggest negative self-talk was how to be a good mom and a good business woman. Her thoughts were, “If I don’t pick up my child every day from school, I am a bad mother.” Instead, we replaced it with, “Picking up my child from school daily is not what makes me a good mother. I am, indeed, a fabulous mother.”</p>
<p>Here are the four action steps that have been proven to help you eliminate your negative self talk:</p>
<p>• Become aware of your negative messages –listen to voice in head</p>
<p>• Stop! You have to stop immediately if you find yourself dwelling on any negative thoughts</p>
<p>• Replace negative thoughts with a kinder alternatives</p>
<p>• Practice. It takes a commitment of time in order to turn a pattern of negative thinking into a more positive train of thought.</p>
